Hypothesis-generating for altered ANF responsiveness in EH; requires confirmation before any clinical consideration.
Does head out of water immersion alter ANF secretion and renal function differently in patients with essential hypertension compared to normotensive subjects?
Patients with essential hypertension do not produce more ANF in response to volume expansion but are more sensitive to its effects on cGMP production, suggesting an abnormally low response of ANF secretion to atrial stretch.
