Implication

AVWS treatment requires customization by disorder and severity; cohort evidence leaves open optimal regimen selection for future trials.

Structured PICO

P
Population
211 patients with acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) from an International Registry, associated with lymphoproliferative (47%), myeloproliferative (19%), cardiovascular diseases, neoplasia (7%), and other miscellaneous diseases (14%).
I
Intervention
Various treatments for bleeding episodes including desmopressin (22%), FVIII/VWF concentrates (26%), high-dose immunoglobulin (10%), plasmapheresis (2%), steroids (5%), and immunosuppressive drugs (20%).
O
Outcome
Management and resolution of bleeding episodes

Treatment for acquired von Willebrand syndrome must be individualized based on the underlying disorder and bleeding severity, as no single therapy is universally effective.
