Rbizopus nigricans showed maximum growth and lipase production at 30C in 5 days at pH 6.0. Aeration stimulated growth and lipase production. The medium supplemented with glucose stimulated maximum production of lipase, whereas that supplemented with galactose, mannitol, fructose, sucrose, lactose, and maltose stimulated less lipase production. Among the nitrogen sources tested, peptone at 2% produced maximum lipase yield. Calcium citrate (.1%) increased the yield of lipase over sodium and potassium citrate.
