The paper describes investigations into the behaviour of certain photographic plates in the ultra-violet region of the spectrum, which were made with a view to obtaining the most suitable type for ultra-violet microscopy. Characteristic curves of these ultra-violet plates have been determined; their relative speeds, contrast factors, and suitability for particular wave-lengths are also discussed.
