The paper describes an experimental high speed field mapper that was built to demonstrate the feasibility of a purely electronic mapping technique. A complete field is mapped in a twenty-fifth of a second and continuous repetition gives the effect of a moving picture. An elementary phosphor potential stabilization theory is discussed, some of the conclusions of which were verified by experiment. The construction of the mapper is briefly described and some of the field maps are reproduced.
