Overview

A simple score using clinical history and standard treadmill test responses can effectively stratify the risk of cardiovascular death in men with suspected coronary artery disease.

Structured PICO

Does a prediction score based on clinical and exercise test data predict cardiovascular death in men undergoing noninvasive evaluation for coronary artery disease?

P
Population
2,546 male veterans referred for exercise testing for known or suspected coronary artery disease. Exclusions: subsequent cardiac catheterization, significant valvular heart disease, and previous coronary artery bypass surgery.
I
Intervention
Prediction score based on history of congestive heart failure or digoxin use, exercise-induced ST depression, change in systolic blood pressure during exercise, and exercise capacity
O
Outcome
Time until cardiovascular deathhard clinical

A simple score using clinical history and standard treadmill test responses can effectively stratify the risk of cardiovascular death in men with suspected coronary artery disease.

Limitations

  • No validation cohort is yet available.
