Does 600 mg aspirin affect blood coagulation parameters measured by thrombelastography in human subjects?
Does 600 mg aspirin affect blood coagulation parameters measured by thrombelastography in human subjects?
Aspirin at a dose of 600 mg significantly prolongs coagulation time and reaction time on thrombelastography without affecting clot elasticity.

May alter TEG interpretation after aspirin; hypothesis-generating without outcome data to guide practice.
Blood samples from 17 sub;ects were analyzed with the use of the thrombelastograph. After 600 mg. aspirin there was a significant prolongation of the reaction time, initial clotting speed, and total coagulation time. There was no alteration either in the maximum clot elasticity or in the time taken to reach this value, nor was there any change in clot retraction.
