Experimental study demonstrates catalyst-free chloroalkoxylation of 3-aryloxindoles using dichloramine B, indicating a sustainable route to functionalized aromatic-chloro-3-alkoxyoxindoles.
A catalyst‐ and additive‐free strategy for the direct chloroalkoxylation of 3‐aryloxindoles has been developed using dichloramine B as a readily available electrophilic chlorinating reagent and alcohols as alkoxy nucleophiles. Notably, dichloramine B is converted to benzenesulfonamide during the chloroalkoxylation process, which is regenerated to dichloramine B with Cl 2 in industry. This mild, operationally simple protocol affords aromatic‐chloro‐3‐alkoxyoxindoles with excellent regioselectivity and broad functional‐group tolerance.
