A prolonged Q-T interval was associated with recurrent syncopal episodes and ventricular fibrillation in a single patient, highlighting the importance of ECG investigation in unexplained syncope.
Case Report (n=1)
Electrocardiographic investigation is crucial in patients with unexplained syncope to identify prolonged Q-T interval and prevent ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
Alerts clinicians to consider QT prolongation in unexplained syncope; single-case data leaves open broader applicability.
A case of recurrent syncopal episodes and two documented episodes of ventricular fibrillation associated with prolongation of the Q-T interval is described. This is a very uncommon problem previously described in young children with and without perceptive deafness. The possible mechanisms for the development of ventricular arrhythmias are discussed, and the importance of electrocardiographic investigation in patients presenting with unexplained syncope is stressed.

Lipp et al. (1970) conducted a case report in Prolonged Q-T interval with recurrent syncopal episodes and ventricular fibrillation (n=1). Prolonged Q-T interval was evaluated on Recurrent syncopal episodes and ventricular fibrillation.
