The first synthesis, isolation and characterization of four copper(II) isocyanide complexes are described, [Cu(CNR)4(H2O)2]X2 with R = tert‐butyl and 1,1,3,3‐tetramethylbutyl, and XClO4⊖ and BF4⊖. Decomposition of these complexes leads to copper(I) derivatives. One of them could be characterized as [Cu(CN‐t‐C4H9)4](ClO4). Infrared, electron spin resonance, and some X‐ray data are provided.
