Key result
The continuous suture technique for aortic valve replacement safely allowed insertion of prosthetic valves larger than the preoperative annulus (mean 23.3 mm vs 21.7 mm) with no paravalvular leakage.
Why the study?
Does a continuous suture technique for aortic valve replacement improve operative times and safety in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis?
Observational (n=13)
No
Does a continuous suture technique for aortic valve replacement improve operative times and safety in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis?
The continuous suture technique for aortic valve replacement appears safe, reduces operative times, and facilitates the implantation of larger prosthetic valves.

Matsuhama et al. (2016) conducted an observational in Severe aortic valve stenosis (n=13). Continuous Suture Technique was evaluated on Mean prosthetic valve size implanted. The continuous suture technique for aortic valve replacement safely allowed insertion of prosthetic valves larger than the preoperative annulus (mean 23.3 mm vs 21.7 mm) with no paravalvular leakage.
