Does Digilanid improve outcomes in patients with congestive heart failure?
This 1941 paper discusses the therapeutic effectiveness of Digilanid in congestive heart failure, noting discrepancies between bio-assays and clinical potency of digitalis preparations.
Early observations suggest Digilanid benefit in heart failure; leaves open standardization of digitalis potency.

Preparations of the same potency with regard to their ability to produce death in a cat or frog will vary markedly in their therapeutic potency as applied to man. Outstanding examples of this discrepancy are the purified digitalis glycosides, digitoxin, (Merck1or "digitaline nativelle"2) and Verodigen (Gitalin)3, 4and other members of the digitalis group such as g-strophanthin (Ouabain)5and Urginin.6This marked difference among various digitalis bodies has resulted in confusion. To substitute one preparation for another and still maintain the...Bibliography1. EGGLESTON C: Digitalis dosage, Arch. Int. Med., 1915, xvi, 1. CrossrefGoogle Scholar2.
