A 21-year-old pregnant woman with Marfan syndrome successfully underwent surgical repair of a 7.3cm ascending aortic aneurysm at 16 weeks gestation, followed by a cesarean delivery at 39 weeks and subsequent postpartum repair of a type B descending aortic dissection.
Case Report (n=1)
Surgical repair of severe aortic aneurysm during pregnancy in Marfan syndrome is feasible for maternal and fetal survival, but patients remain at extremely high risk for postpartum vascular and cardiac complications.
