Administration of digoxin-specific Fab fragments (Digibind) resulted in the return of cardiac output within minutes in a 70-year-old woman with cardiac arrest due to digoxin toxicity.
Case Report (n=1)
Digoxin-specific Fab fragments can rapidly restore cardiac output in digoxin-induced cardiac arrest, justifying prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation in these cases.
May support Digibind in digoxin toxicity arrest; hypothesis-generating pending controlled data.
This paper describes the successful outcome from cardiac arrest of a 70 year old woman following digoxin toxicity. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was continued for 55 minutes, until the return of cardiac output within minutes of digoxin‐specific Fab fragment (Digibind®) therapy. The pharmacology and indications for using digoxin‐specific Fab fragments are discussed. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be prolonged in such a situation.

Dean et al. (1994) conducted a case report in Cardiac arrest due to digoxin toxicity (n=1). Digoxin-specific Fab fragment (Digibind®) was evaluated on Return of cardiac output. Administration of digoxin-specific Fab fragments (Digibind) resulted in the return of cardiac output within minutes in a 70-year-old woman with cardiac arrest due to digoxin toxicity.
