Adjustment for age alone eliminated these associations for both mortality (age-adjusted HR=0.90, 95% CI 0.73–1.10, p=0.29) and poor functional outcome (age-adjusted OR=1.18, 95% CI 0.93–1.50, p=0.17).
Fully adjusted models confirmed no independent sex disparities in one-year mortality (HR=0.78, 95% CI 0.60–1.03, p=0.08) or functional outcome (OR=1.15, 95% CI 0.93–1.59, p=0.38).
