X-ray diffraction phenomena are considered in an extremely asymmetric case, in which the diffracted beam, exactly fulfilling the Bragg condition is parallel to the surface of the crystal. In this case, the phenomenon of anomalous absorption is analysed, and it is shown, that a range of angles of incidence exists, where a total internal reflection of the diffracted beam occurs.
