The preparation and X-ray structure of V(N 3 S 2 )(dtbc)(phen)·CHCl 3 (dtbc = di-t-butylcatecholate, phen = phenanthroline)

Reaction of [V(µ-Cl)(N3S2)Cl]2 with phenanthroline (phen) gives V(N3S2)Cl2(phen)(1) which undergoes further reaction with 2,5-But2C6H2O22–(di-t-butylcatecholate) to give the title compound (2), which is air stable and the first example of a neutral mixed ligand tris bidentate V%([A-Z]+) complex to be prepared; the X-ray crystal structure of (2) is reported.
