Two TFPI-2 SNPs link to coronary atherosclerosis but fail to predict cardiovascular events.
Why the study?
Do TFPI-2 gene polymorphisms associate with the presence of coronary atherosclerosis and predict cardiovascular events in a Chinese population?

Do TFPI-2 gene polymorphisms associate with the presence of coronary atherosclerosis and predict cardiovascular events in a Chinese population?
TFPI-2 gene polymorphisms are associated with the presence of coronary atherosclerosis in a Chinese population but do not significantly predict future cardiovascular events.

TFPI-2 SNPs may associate with coronary atherosclerosis; hypothesis-generating and should not yet change practice.
Yu et al. (2015) conducted a case-control in Coronary atherosclerosis (n=713). Tissue factor pathway inhibitor-2 (TFPI-2) gene polymorphisms vs. Normal coronary artery / absence of specific polymorphisms was evaluated on Coronary atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events. Two TFPI-2 gene SNPs (rs59805398 and rs34489123) correlated with coronary atherosclerosis, but did not predict the 85 cardiovascular events observed over a median 53-month follow-up.
