SUMMARY Fluorescent sera obtained by conjugating fluorescein isocyanate with the globulin fraction of serum obtained from rabbits previously injected with homogenates of normal rat liver have an affinity for rat liver and regenerating rat liver but not for rat hepatoma. There is a close correlation between these staining reactions and alterations occurring in cellular proteins during carcinogenesis ; these may be demonstrated electrophoretically. The phenomenon is an expression of an essential difference between neoplastic and normal tissue and is not an indication merely of cellular activity.
