Folding plasty controls recurrent congenital MR in a pediatric case without requiring annular plication.
Case Report (n=1)
No
Folding plasty may be an effective surgical option for recurrent congenital mitral insufficiency, allowing for a broad valve orifice area without the need for annular plication.
May warrant consideration for annular preservation in select pediatric mitral repairs; leaves open need for larger series on durability.

Koizumi et al. (2008) conducted a case report in Recurrent congenital mitral insufficiency (n=1). Folding plasty was evaluated on Mitral regurgitation control and leaflet coaptation. Folding plasty successfully controlled regurgitation and improved leaflet coaptation in a 10-year-old girl with recurrent congenital mitral incompetence without requiring annular plication.
