Prasugrel linked to lower ADP and TRAP-6 inducible platelet activation versus clopidogrel during PCI.
Why the study?
Does prasugrel reduce inducible platelet activation and leukocyte-platelet interaction more efficiently than clopidogrel in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention?
Observational (n=105)
Does prasugrel reduce inducible platelet activation and leukocyte-platelet interaction more efficiently than clopidogrel in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention?
p-value: p=≤0.001
Prasugrel provides more potent inhibition of ADP- and TRAP-6-inducible platelet activation and leukocyte-platelet interaction compared to clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI.

Supports greater platelet inhibition with prasugrel in PCI; leaves open effects on clinical outcomes.
Gremmel et al. (2013) conducted an observational in Percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation (n=105). Prasugrel vs. Clopidogrel was evaluated on ADP and TRAP-6 inducible P-selectin expression, activation of GPIIb/IIIa and monocyte-platelet aggregate (MPA) formation (p=≤0.001). Prasugrel reduces ADP and TRAP-6 inducible platelet activation (P≤0.001) and leukocyte-platelet interaction (P=0.02) more efficiently than clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI.
