Lacidipine is noninferior to amlodipine for SBP reduction with similar safety in older Korean hypertensives; extends prior global RCT evidence to this population.
Na et al. (2013) conducted an RCT in mild-to-moderate hypertension (n=315). Lacidipine vs. Amlodipine besylate was evaluated on sitting systolic blood pressure (SBP) change (95% CI -4.18 to 0.72, p=>0.05). Lacidipine was noninferior to amlodipine besylate for reducing systolic blood pressure at 14 weeks (1-sided 95% CI for the difference -4.18 to 0.72, within the -5 mm Hg noninferiority margin).
