Late sepsis in rats elevates myocardial G-alpha-i proteins and reduces adenylate cyclase activity ~26%.
p-value: p=<0.05
In a rat model of sepsis, late-stage cardiac dysfunction is associated with increased inhibitory G protein subunits and reduced adenylate cyclase activity.

May implicate Gi signaling in septic cardiomyopathy; hypothesis-generating and requires human validation before clinical relevance.
Wu et al. (2003) studied Sepsis. Cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) induced sepsis vs. Control group was evaluated on Protein levels of G alpha i-2 and G alpha i-3, and adenylate cyclase activity (p=<0.05). In a rat model of late sepsis, myocardial G alpha i-2 and G alpha i-3 protein levels increased by 46.5% (P<0.05) and 61.3% (P<0.01), coupled with a 25.7% reduction in basal adenylate cyclase activity.
