In this study, physiological activity was verified to confirm the possibility of the development of Fragaria x ananassa roots as a natural material. The experiment was conducted by extracting Fragaria x ananassa roots with 70% ethanol.First, the extract was confirmed to have a polyphenol content of 1,324.40 ± 0.89 mg TAE/100 g, electron donating ability and 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethyl benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging ability, it was confirmed that more than 85% of antioxidant activity appeared at 50 μg/ml.The nitric oxide production inhibition effect was verified, an inhibitory effect of 20.47% was confirmed at 500 μg/ml compared to the lipopolysaccharide treatment group alone. The inhibitory effects of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) was measured through western blot and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. As a result, it was confirmed that the expression of iNOS and COX-2 protein were suppressed in a concentration-dependent manner.Based on the results of this study, the antiinflammatory effects of Fragaria x ananassa roots were confirmed and it is judged that it has the potential to be developed as a natural material.
