Hypothesis-generating for TNF-beta epigenetic control; leaves open clinical translation pending validation in disease cohorts.
Webb et al. (1990) studied this question. Genetic variability and DNA methylation at TNF loci was evaluated on Allelic restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and DNA methylation of the TNF-beta gene. Variation in DNA methylation at AccI sites within and upstream of the TNF-beta gene may play an important role in regulating its expression, with methylation being lowest in T lymphocytes.
