Corrosion has a major impact on the economics of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, safety, and environmental protection. This article discusses the production and transportation of LNG, its regasification, and associated corrosion problems. Corrosion control is achieved by proper selection of corrosion-resistant materials, coatings and linings, and cathodic protection.
