School Counselor Professional Identity Scale (SCPIS): instrument construction and evaluation

Through the methodology of scale construction and psychometric evaluation, the School Counselor Professional Identity Scale (SCPIS) provides clarity of school counselor professional identity, which supports advocacy efforts within the school counseling profession. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) on pilot (N = 112) and evaluation (N = 521) samples provided evidence supporting a seven-factor School Counselor Professional Identity Model and scores that demonstrate strong internal consistency and validity.
