Fe(III)-mediated intermolecular C–H hydroalkylation of azauracils with alkenes has been developed under open-air conditions. Through this methodology, a number of alkylated azauracils were obtained in moderate to good yields by using NaBH4 as the hydrogen source at ambient temperature. Furthermore, this method allows the convenient installation of a deuterium atom into organic molecules.
