Intramuscular AAV-TetON-vIL10 plus doxycycline reduces collagen-induced arthritis incidence and severity in mice vs controls.
Why the study?
Adeno-associated viruses offer potential for cytokine gene transfer in rheumatoid arthritis with long-term expression and regulated therapeutic gene control, but their efficacy and regulation in RA models needed assessment.
Does AAV-TetON-vIL10 gene transfer reduce arthritis severity in a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis?
Does AAV-TetON-vIL10 gene transfer reduce arthritis severity in a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis?
AAV-mediated, tetracycline-inducible vIL-10 gene transfer provides controlled therapeutic efficacy in a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis.

Supports inducible vIL-10 gene therapy in arthritis models; leaves open translation to human rheumatoid arthritis.
Apparailly et al. (2002) studied Rheumatoid arthritis (experimental). AAV-TetON-vIL10 vector plus doxycycline vs. Control groups was evaluated on Incidence and severity of collagen-induced arthritis at macroscopic, radiological, and histological levels. Intramuscular injection of AAV-TetON-vIL10 vector plus doxycycline significantly reduced the incidence and severity of collagen-induced arthritis in DBA1 mice compared to control groups.
