A series of 1,1'-(hexane-1,6-diyl)bis[3-(3-hydroxy/3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-methyl/5,7-dimethyladamantan-1-yl)ureas] was synthesized as potential inhibitors of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). The presence of a hydroxyl group in the diurea structure was found to increase the water solubility of the compounds, thereby enhancing their bioavailability. The melting points of the synthesized diureas also increased, which is likely attributable to the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
