Single IV PEG-rmMGDF yields higher day 5 platelet counts than daily dosing in mice.
Why the study?
A comprehensive kinetic study of the thrombopoietic response to a single injection of recombinant c-mpl ligand had not been performed, despite active investigation of daily dosing schedules.

Single-dose PEG-rmMGDF kinetics may refine preclinical dosing; leaves open human translation and clinical utility.
Daw et al. (1998) studied this question. Pegylated recombinant murine megakaryocyte growth and development factor (PEG-rmMGDF) vs. Daily administration of 20 or 100 micrograms/kg for 5 days was evaluated on Platelet number and mean platelet volume. A single intravenous administration of 100 micrograms/kg PEG-rmMGDF produced a higher platelet number on day 5 than daily administration of 100 or 20 micrograms/kg for 5 days in mice.
