The hCYP11B2 Hap-I variant elevates baseline BP and upregulates proinflammatory markers in mice.
Why the study?
The impact of haplotype-dependent transcriptional regulation of the human CYP11B2 gene on blood pressure and aldosterone expression was unclear.
Does the Hap-I variant of the hCYP11B2 gene increase tissue expression and blood pressure compared to the Hap-II variant in transgenic mice?
Does the Hap-I variant of the hCYP11B2 gene increase tissue expression and blood pressure compared to the Hap-II variant in transgenic mice?
The Hap-I variant of the human aldosterone synthase gene leads to increased expression and salt-dependent high blood pressure in a transgenic mouse model.
Hypothesis-generating in animal models; leaves open any role for CYP11B2 haplotypes in human hypertension management.

Mopidevi et al. (2014) studied Hypertension. Hap-I variant of hCYP11B2 gene vs. Hap-II variant of hCYP11B2 gene was evaluated on Tissue expression of hCYP11B2 and baseline blood pressure. The Hap-I variant of the hCYP11B2 gene led to increased adrenal and renal expression, elevated baseline blood pressure accentuated by high salt, and upregulated proinflammatory markers in mice.
