Superconductivity was discovered in ternary scandium tellurides Sc6MTe2 with M = Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Os, and Ir. [Y. Shinoda et al., J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 92, 103701 (2023).] The highest superconducting transition temperature (4.7 K) was observed for M = Fe. They are characterized by a one-dimensional (1D) network of metallic bonds and the resulting 1D electronic states. Unique metallic bonds often appear in metal-rich compounds, making this class of materials an interesting platform for superconductivity research.
