Key result
Fixed-dose perindopril/indapamide lowers clinic systolic blood pressure by ~31 mmHg in uncontrolled hypertension.
Why the study?
Blood pressure control remains inadequate in subjects with uncontrolled arterial hypertension despite treatment with high doses of ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, alone or in combination with other agents.
Does switching to a fixed-dose combination of perindopril 10 mg and indapamide 2.5 mg improve blood pressure control in non-diabetic subjects with previously uncontrolled arterial hypertension?

Hypothesis-generating for optimizing BP control in uncontrolled hypertension on ACEi/ARA; larger randomized trials needed.
Does switching to a fixed-dose combination of perindopril 10 mg and indapamide 2.5 mg improve blood pressure control in non-diabetic subjects with previously uncontrolled arterial hypertension?
Switching to a high-dose fixed combination of perindopril and indapamide significantly reduces clinic and ambulatory blood pressure in patients with previously uncontrolled hypertension.
Павлова et al. (2012) studied uncontrolled arterial hypertension (n=46). perindopril/indapamide fixed-dose combination vs. prior monotherapy or combination therapy was evaluated on clinic and ambulatory blood pressure. Switching to a fixed-dose combination of perindopril 10 mg/indapamide 2.5 mg significantly reduced clinic BP from 162.6/98.0 mmHg to 131.5/82.4 mmHg in uncontrolled hypertension.
