This study aimed to determine the effects on physical abilities and quality of life with an eight-month contemporary dance program in females over 60. A prospective study was done on 36 women aged 60 to 91 (70 ± 7). The group performed a one-hour contemporary dance class thrice weekly for eight months. Classes addressed body awareness, balance, flexibility, strength, and creativity. Pre- and post-program physical abilities were tested. At the end of the program, there was an improvement in flexibility, reaction time, and balance. Physical, psychological, and social relationship domains in the Quality-of-Life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) were found. Dance positively influenced the elderly population and the benefits of specific abilities such as balance, time of reaction, flexibility, and quality of life.
