Hypothesis-generating for mobile cardiac rehab apps in Malaysia; prospective trials needed to assess adherence and outcomes.
Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) is a medically supervised programme designed to improve the cardiovascular health of people with cardiac conditions, lower the risk of recurrent attacks, and serve as a secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In Malaysia, there aren't many cardiac rehab facilities. Less than 5% of patients were successful in getting into the centres. With the development of technology, mobile applications present a viable way to increase accessibility and participation in cardiac rehabilitation programmes. The development of the MyCardiacRehab mobile application for cardiac rehabilitation is discussed in this paper. It is intended to enable people recovering from CVDs to play a more active part in their health journey. With features designed to specifically meet the needs of cardiac patients, MyCardiacRehab provides a user-friendly interface. These features include screening of the patient, baseline measurements, pre-exercise evaluation, individualised exercise prescription, educational resources, clinic visits, reminders, and progress tracking. There are various stages in the development process, such as requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing. To make sure the application satisfies the preferences and expectations of the target users, usability testing and user feedback gathering were done in the Pusat Perubatan UITM Sungai Buloh. It is possible to improve patient involvement, adherence, and overall results by incorporating mobile technology into cardiac rehabilitation. MyCardiacRehab seeks to close the accessibility and convenience gap between patients and healthcare professionals, encouraging a teamwork mentality in cardiac rehabilitation. The finding concludes on the advantages of using mobile applications as supplemental tools in healthcare interventions, with the potential to completely transform cardiac rehabilitation procedures and raise the quality of life for people with cardiovascular disorders.
