Key result
Sustained idiopathic VT is linked to a 90% programmed stimulation induction rate vs nonsustained cases.
Why the study?
The mechanisms and clinical characteristics of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia, including differences between sustained and non-sustained types, were not fully elucidated.

Differences in inducibility warrant no practice change; leaves open distinct mechanisms in sustained versus non-sustained idiopathic VT.

Iinuma et al. (1992) conducted an observational in Idiopathic ventricular tachycardia (n=14). Sustained idiopathic ventricular tachycardia vs. Non-sustained idiopathic ventricular tachycardia was evaluated on VT induction by programmed electrical stimulation (p=<0.01). Sustained idiopathic ventricular tachycardia showed significantly higher rates of VT induction by programmed electrical stimulation (90% vs 0%, p<0.01) and different QRS morphologies compared to non-sustained cases.
