Thermotherapy reduces pain by ~2 points in a patient presenting with inferior STEMI.
Why the study?
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide with increasing incidence of STEMI, necessitating effective nursing interventions to reduce pain.
Does thermotherapy reduce pain in a patient with STEMI?
Case Report (n=1)
No
Does thermotherapy reduce pain in a patient with STEMI?
Absolute Event Rate: 4% vs 6%
Thermotherapy (warm compress) may be an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention to help reduce chest pain and improve comfort in patients with acute STEMI.
Should not change STEMI care; leaves open thermotherapy's role pending controlled trials.
Latar Belakang.

Anggraeni et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Inferior ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) (n=1). Thermotherapy (warm compress) vs. Baseline (pre-intervention) was evaluated on Pain scale reduction. Thermotherapy application effectively reduced the pain scale from 6 to 4, lowered blood pressure from 140/90 to 120/60 mmHg, and decreased heart rate from 127 to 100 bpm in a patient with inferior STEMI.
