Key result
Ridaforolimus-eluting stents show a ~16% 5-year MACE rate in coronary artery disease.
Why the study?
Ridaforolimus-eluting stents have unique polymer and drug properties, but their long-term clinical outcomes compared with other stents remain to be systematically evaluated.
Meta-Analysis (n=1,709)
In this single-arm meta-analysis, ridaforolimus-eluting stents were associated with high procedural success and low rates of adverse clinical events (MACE, stent thrombosis) up to 5 years, supporting their procedural feasibility and safety.
Ridaforolimus-eluting stents yield acceptable long-term MACE rates in CAD; leaves open need for randomized comparisons with contemporary DES.

Bertoli et al. (2026) conducted a meta-analysis in Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) (n=1,709). Ridaforolimus-eluting stent (RES) was evaluated on Major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 5 years (95% CI 14.14-18.47). Ridaforolimus-eluting stents in patients with coronary artery disease demonstrated a major adverse cardiac event rate of 4.82% at 1 year and 16.22% at 5 years.
