Background Edwardsiella tarda bacteremia can be a fatal disease in humans. Case Presentation A 5-day-old female infant was admitted with 2-day skin jaundice and 3 h of decreased milk intake with persistent crying. Blood culture confirmed Edwardsiella tarda . The left parietal subgaleal hematoma progressed to abscess rupture during hospitalization. She received meropenem combined with adjunctive intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and supportive care, and was discharged without long-term complications. Conclusion Neonatal Edwardsiella tarda septicemia is a rare infection with potentially non-specific clinical manifestations, making early diagnosis challenging. Awareness of potential environmental or aquatic exposures may be helpful when considering E. tarda infection in neonates.
