The authors developed a simple and inexpensive acceleration sensor that can record the acceleration of a building’s shaking and obtain both time information and the acceleration record. We conducted a shaking table experiment to verify the measurement accuracy of this acceleration sensor. Taking into account a maximum displacement error of approximately 20mm, the developed acceleration sensor has the measurement accuracy to supplement and measure the time characteristics of ground shaking and earthquake observations using scratch pad examination of the movement installed in seismically isolated buildings.
