This report examines the utilization of international conference hosting in Tokyo based on JNTO data from 2007 to 2023. The findings indicate that approximately one-fifth of all international conferences held in Japan took place within Tokyo’s 23 wards. However, a considerable number of wards hosted only a limited number of conferences, indicating disparities in local initiatives. The results also suggest that attracting conference fields compatible with venue functions contributes to differentiation among wards. Furthermore, the analysis identifies the potential for the sustained hosting of international conferences not only in small-scale venues but also in peripheral areas outside central Tokyo.
