This report details the conservation and renovation work carried out in 2024 for the Office and Hall of the All Japan Seamen’s Union, originally designed by Masato Otaka in 1964. To balance historical preservation with modern functional requirements, extensive consultations were conducted among the owner, the design and construction teams, and an external expert committee. By respecting and utilizing the building’s inherent characteristics, the project achieved a harmonious integration of original and renovated elements. This project serves as a case study for balancing conservation with performance enhancement in the adaptive reuse of modern architecture.
