This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in dance education in Class VII.2 at SMP Negeri 40 Padang. The study aimed to improve students' learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants of this study were 30 students of Class VII.2 at SMP Negeri 40 Padang. The research instruments included learning activity observation sheets, written tests, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model successfully improved students' learning activities. The average percentage of students' learning activities increased from 49% in Cycle I to 85% in Cycle II. Students' learning outcomes also improved, as indicated by the increase in the average class score from 70 in Cycle I to 83 in Cycle II. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving learning mastery increased from 23.3% (7 students) in Cycle I to 93.3% (28 students) in Cycle II. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is effective in improving both students' learning activities and learning outcomes in dance education for Class VII.2 at SMP Negeri 40 Padang.
