First person – Yuto Kawasaki

First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Yuto Kawasaki is one of the co-first authors on ‘ Volume EM reveals stepwise development of the glomerular capillary system through sprouting and intussusceptive angiogenesis’, published in JCS. Yuto is an Assistant Professor in the lab of Koichiro Ichimura at Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, investigating the 3D ultrastructure of cells and tissues, especially the glomerular capillary system and glomeruli, using volume electron microscopy (EM).
