Analysis of Community Preparedness for Potential Drought Disasters in Jatijajar Village, Ayah District, Kebumen Regency Jatijajar Village, located in Ayah District, Kebumen Regency, is a karst area with a high risk of drought, according to the 2021 Disaster Risk Map produced by the Kebumen Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). This study aims to analyze drought levels and community preparedness regarding potential drought disasters. Drought levels were analyzed using the Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI) based on the relationship between the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST), while community preparedness was assessed through interviews with 30 heads of households using LIPI-UNESCO/ISDR (2006) indicators. The TVDI results show an average value of 0,62, classified as moderately dry, with the highest levels of dryness concentrated in the western and central parts of the village, which are dominated by residential areas. In terms of preparedness, the study results indicate that community preparedness falls into the “fairly poor” category, with an index of 56.5%. This study has several limitations, including data availability, which necessitates consideration of other relevant data sources such as interviews, as well as the study’s scope, which focuses solely on meteorologycal drought. This study highlights the importance of community-based preparedness assessments in reducing the risk of potential drought disasters.
