Bangladesh's impending transition from least-developed-country status and the initialling of a Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation with the European Union open a structured opportunity to redesign the bilateral economic relationship. This paper develops the concept of a humane trading architecture in which enterprise competitiveness and innovation capacity function as the principal transmission mechanisms between preferential market access and structural transformation. It integrates multidimensional market-measurement tools (the Economic Vulnerability Index and the Environmental Performance Index), mild-form transaction authentication and data validation for small and medium enterprise trade finance, sovereign computational capacity (including a Bangla large language model embedded in digital public infrastructure), and post-quantum readiness for trade finance. Drawing on comparative lessons from the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and EU–India negotiations, the paper specifies five negotiating redlines, co-creation pathways in food, fuel and finance, and a three-phase roadmap calibrated to the current United Nations graduation schedule and the pending request for a preparatory extension. The resulting framework preserves strategic autonomy while extending economic franchise to domestic firms and workers. Personal academic views only.
