This report presents a literature review and discussion focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support future flight operations, particularly within the context of Single Pilot Operations (SPO) and failure mitigation. The scope considered focuses on flight deck operations that support decision-making, reduce pilot workload, and improve situational awareness, with a special emphasis on processes for detecting and reducing the effects of system or aircraft-level failures. Although failure management is a widely studied topic in the aeronautical context (Zolghadri, 2024), there are still few systematic reviews on the specific combination of SPO and AI, even though several isolated studies and reports highlighting the importance of the subject have been published, as discussed in this text.
