Redmann et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Cardiobacterium hominis prosthetic valve endocarditis (n=1). Plasma microbial cell-free DNA sequencing (Karius test) and intravenous ceftriaxone was evaluated on Pathogen identification of Cardiobacterium hominis and clinical management of prosthetic valve infective endocarditis. Plasma microbial cell-free DNA sequencing identified Cardiobacterium hominis in a 51-year-old man with culture-negative prosthetic valve endocarditis, enabling 6-week IV ceftriaxone (2 g daily).
