The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the shadow segment of the biologically active additives (BAA) market in the Republic of Tatarstan, considered as a factor threatening the economic security of the region. The work reveals the scale and features of the illegal turnover of BAA, identifies its structural characteristics, distribution channels and consequences for legal business, the budget and public health. A classification of the main threats and the consequences of their influence are presented, including counterfeiting of products, reduction of tax revenues and reduction of confidence in the legal market. Particular attention is paid to proposals to counteract negative trends, including the digitalization of control, the development of a mandatory labeling mechanism, the participation of public institutions in monitoring and the improvement of legislation. The proposed measures are aimed at increasing market transparency, protecting the interests of bona fide producers and strengthening the regional economic security system. The results obtained can be used in developing regional strategies for regulating the turnover of dietary supplements and in the process of improving control at the federal level.
